    @ Hi Eun-Bum:
Nice to meet you. I’m not a consult. I am hired by an international food supplement manufacture. What kind of projects does KOTRA get involved in?

@ Eun-bum! I can totally relate to you about Koreans at the U.S.!
I’ve been through the similar things too =[
Nice to meet you by the way!

@ oh haha… well, I wish you could have met him in person. I think most people don’t know what a sense of humor he had, if they only saw him doing conferences and things – but I only knew him as my grandfather, really. In fact, I don’t think I ever heard the word “TCK” until after his death… and if I did, I didn’t understand it.

    my dad is the…[Read more]

@ Hi, Jeff, thanks for your words to the 50+ group (okay–you can squeak in! LOL!) Yes, one of the very first things my partner and I did when we moved to the “new” house with the kids was to cancel cable and give away all but one TV, which went into a basement closet. It took the kids about a month of grumbling, but then they started to read…[Read more]

@ Hi, Narges! I am fascinated by the Scandinavian culture, their entrepreneurship, their egalitarianism, their respect for others, so on. I wonder whether you had a “reverse culture shock” when you reentered your home country, too? Is that the case?

@ Wow! It is my greatest pleasure to personally get to know the granddaughter of David C. Pollock! What a small world! I see! Indeed that explains why you know a lot about TCKs. I see. Would you mind if I ask what your father is doing in China? Currently, I am trying to build a theoretical framework of the third culture and plan to apply for the…[Read more]

    @ hey!
actually yes, I am the daughter of his third son. I guess that explains why I’m familiar with the concept of being a TCK, right? 🙂

It’s true that technology has helped a lot. I have kept my relationships with two close friends from the states, but other than that, I think my friendships at eleven years old weren’t deep enough to maintain.…[Read more]

@ Hello, Isao-san 🙂 I have a tiny, tiny bit of an understanding of what Japanese must be like. . . I grew up as a missionary kid in Europe–there, we stood up when any adult walked in the room; we curtsied/bowed when saying hello; we gave up our seats to anyone older than ourselves. . . etc., and I find the informality of Americans to be…[Read more]

@ Hi, Caroline. Welcome. Are you a consult for the TQM? I major in business at the PhD level. Nice to get to know you!

  • posted an update 16 years ago

@ Wow. From your writing, I think you are so mature for your age. When I was in the high school, I never got to hear terms such as global nomads or TCKs, but the technology changed everything. Younger generation like you are better connected than we were. When I had to move, my friendship severed, but now you can continue your friendship, right?…[Read more]
