@ California is the land of anti-Christ. (JUST KIDDING!) I don’t blame. I lived in So. Cal and I completely relate to your experience. And no, you never have to worry about me not “getting it”. I really, truly do get it. I hate it whenever i hear “Amerca is the GREATEST country…” (excuse me while I retch.) All the breast beating and flag waving…[Read more]

@ Hey Miyon, sorry it took me a while to respond. I LOVE monkeys. Marmosets make the best pets as they are easy to train and seem to love to please. I wish I could get a pet monkey in the US. Squirrel monkeys are fun too, but they are a bit more fragile.
What is your story? Where all did you grow up?

@ Hey Paul – For a web guy, it took me a while to figure out how to read comments I was getting in my e-mail!! Anyways, I was adopted from Haiti, and lived as an MK in Haiti, and Guyana South America. I now live in Athens, GA. How about you? What is your story?

@ Hi, Dianne! Welcome! You are a strong woman to be living as a single woman in New Delhi. My brother and I visited our friend, Padmini, in New Delhi in the 1980s. Despite Padmini’s family being among the more wealthy Indians, there were real daily-life challenges that made me realize (again) how privileged my life is in the United States–water…[Read more]

@ Thanks for your feedback! I loved it, Suzanne =]
I know…I hate it when ppl assume things about me when I tell them my experiences
(but then I do the same thing too sometimes)
I don’t like it esp when Americans go all egoistic about the U.S. or expect me to settle
in the U.S. for rest of my life (<-excuse me, it’s my OWN decision. K,…[Read more] -

@ Thank you for “stumbling and noticing”, Jiyoon. . . My brother and I can feel your prayers streaming all the way across the globe–we had a wonderful Christmas together, and this week he is feeling amazingly well given how ill he is. . .
I hope your 2010 will be a wonderful year for you, and I will remember you in my thoughts, as well. -

@ Hi, Stefanie–Welcome! You are so smart by participating in the conversation on TCKid at your age–it will help you a LOT to adjust in your “boring” setting–my parents never realized that going “home” to the United States was the hard part for me–it was home for them, but certainly not for me! I wish TCKid had been available when I was your…[Read more]

@ Hi Amanda, I want to thank you for your reaction to my blog. I’m thrilled his books have been a source of inspiration for you over the years! When I see how I live today, I see my dad so much in me, my husband and I are also very big on sustainable living and alternative energy. Like Margaret Mead said, ‘Never doubt that a small group of…[Read more]

@ Tina! So great to connect with you on this cool new social networking site. I’ve heard a lot about the FIGT conference. In fact, I even contemplated going last year. I was born in Houston, so I thought it would be fun to go back, see some old family friends, learn more about my TCK-ness, and meet others who are passionate about helping…[Read more]

@ Hi Rachel,
Thank you for the nice comments. It is always a pleasure to hear from another TCKID. Sometimes I wonder how many of us crossed paths in our travels and don’t even know it. Or how many times we still pass by in an Airport. I sometimes think it would be fun to have some kind of identifier just for us. Maybe we should all should have an…[Read more]

@ Hi, Lewis! Nice to see your profile and pictures.
My family lived in Europe as I was growing up (and my parents lived in Munich 5 of those years). I love Germany, but hardly ever get back there. . . (last time I went was in 2006, when I introduced my partner to “the places where Rachel grew up”, including the Palatinate, Saarland, France,…[Read more] -
