@ Hi, Abigail. It is nice to get to know you. Actually, I was in Japan from the elementary school. I have a question to ask of you. Are you related to David C. Pollock, somehow? He was one of a pioneer in TCK research. Just curious because you seem to share the same last name with him.

@ Hi! 🙂 Nice to meet you too!
Ah it’s so cool that you are a writer – I would LOVE to be paid to write, but I’m not sure what opportunities there are for being overseas, as a writer. How did you get into writing? Was it easy to find work?

how long did you live in Kenya? did you like it there? would you go back? I’m curious because my father is…[Read more]

    @ Hi Miyon,
Cool…your stories remind me of my Asian friends I have met in Taiwan. They have multiple passports (US, Columbia, Australia, Canada…), speak multiple languages, but all look, er, “local”. I have always thought of my life as something special. The 5 years (so far) in Taipei completely dismantled that naive illusion. We are…[Read more]

@ Hi Rachel I will do what I can :-). You have raised an important point – how many forms of usage are there in Japanese?
Most people, even Japanese themselves, think of two or three – polite or non-polite as you mentioned. In fact, I believe there are as many forms of usage as the number of relationship, which means almost infinite. I believe…[Read more]

@ Dozo–could you teach me some more Japanese? I only know about 3 or 4 phrases, and a few individual words, but would love to learn more!!! And I would love to have an explanation of the different “forms” of Japanese–are there really several different Japanese “languages”, depending on whom you are speaking with? In German/French/Spanish, there…[Read more]

@ No, it’s me who have to say thank you / どうもありがとう / 很感謝你 / gracias por a todos. Because I stumbled on tckid.com I got in touch with Chi-Ying and others here in Taipei. I know I am not alone nor special anymore. My brain always “knew” it, but listening to my heart telling me so feels so much better. Rock on!

@ So there you are Brice. It is nice to “know” you as more than a name. I am in awe of all you have done with TCKID. I have been (past tense) involved with MK Safetynet and an still very supportive of what they do. Personally, I am ready to move on from the heaviness of abuse in MK schools and look forward to meeting people through this…[Read more]

@ Hiya Abigail, oh I also LOVE reading and books – I just wish I had your wisdom about life at a much earlier age! 🙂 And I’m a huge believer in volunteering and making a difference in the present – you might think you’re only helping in a small way, but really you never really know in what way you touch other people’s lives…
    How do you feel…[Read more]

@ hiya Lizzy! Great of Brice to introduce us! I have a feeling we’ve exchanged a few messages on FB earlier in the year – were you finishing your dissertation just about then??? I had no idea you had such an interest in museums (“bone girl”) – we must talk more about this, maybe I can give you some advice for volunteering etc? Take care, Krisztina
