@ Hi Kimberly. I think we may have something to share with each other. I am in the process of writing a book for TCKs heading off to college/university either in their home country or to another host country and I am mentioning TCK communities on campuses and how they are rapidly expanding.
I will be presenting on what kinds of issues TCK face…[Read more] -

@ I am definitely feeling it in Tokyo though…it might just end up being a new possibility for a “base of operations” of sorts for me. I still have to really learn the language though (if there ever was a Level 5 or 6 in Japanese, that’ll be where I am at =P).
I will definitely try and visit Seoul sometime soon. Last time I went there was around…[Read more]

@ So you are in Seoul now? It must be a big difference to be in nice warm sunny Hawaii and then back to cold cold Seol winter 🙂 I am often tempted to go grad school in someplace warm but my parents frowns upon the idea. I can’t blame them.
I bet you have your own errands to run during your break, but feel free to contact me if you want to hang…[Read more]

@ Ah ha, I see.
Tokyo always holds a special place in my heart with lots of sweet memories – and I am still looking for a possibility to work in Tokyo, sooner or later in the future. Let me know if you have a chance to visit Seoul (less than 3 hr flight from Tokyo) and stay connected! -

@ Hey Jiyoon. Thanks for adding me. Well, I technically don’t live in Japan, but my parents are based here (while I’m currently based in Manila). I’ve been coming back and forth for the past 4 years now (every 4 months or so) and, once again, I feel that I can relate to the country already in some way.
How did you enjoy it here? =) -

@ Hi Ruth!
Thanks for the message and for adding me up on My.TCKid.
My mom is actually reading the book now. She had to borrow it from a friend who has TCKs since my copy of the book is back “home.” Hehehe. I do hope it’ll make her understand some of my “quirks” a little better.
Cheers! -

Glad to see another TCK (Adult) with Japanese influence! I spent one year in Tokyo, Japan. Are you keeping up with your Japanese language? 😀 -

@ Hi Ruth, my father has written a couple books so I’ve heard first-hand how tough those “editors” can be on you writers Seriously though, I can’t tell you again how much all of your efforts are appreciated. As to my childhood, well I was born and raised in Japan where my parents were stationed as missionaries. Okay well I hope you have a great…[Read more]

@ Thanks, Tim..it always makes me glad to meet others of like experience and know that maybe the years spent at my computer in the basement are helpful to others as well as all I learned for and about myself trying to find language to put on paper all Dave Pollock had already seen in describing the basic profile and then all that the editors…[Read more]

@ Hi, Andre…glad you found the book and TCKid.com..it helps to know our feelings have reasons and it’s not just because we’re “crazy” or something! I’ll be glad to add you as a friend if I figure out what to click here! Brice knows I’m a bit technologically deficient!

@ Yes I do speak Lao. And it is somewhat similar to Thai. Do you speak Thai? There are many words that are the same but they have a different tone. For example all of the numbers are the same except for 20 and numbers 20-29 because of it. But the tones are different also depending on what part of Lao you are from. They do not have a central…[Read more]

@ Hi, Ruth. How are you doing? I’m back in Korea for vacation. How was your reading my paper on the third culture? Did you like it or not? It would be greatly nice if you could provide me with any kind of feedback and expert opinion. Thank you.
