@ Congratulations on joining the work force! I hope you are learning a lot and find it fulfilling. What do you do?

I agree, anthropology is absolutely amazing, and I’m glad you joined the anthro class you took. It’s so funny how even the words we speak everyday reveal so much about ourselves and how we see the world. 🙂

@ Hey Heidi, just saw your profile pic – you’re wearing a saree, and it looks awfully like a wedding saree to me! Did you get married in one?

I did too (two of them in fact), but then that was kind of expected, given my ethnic background 😉

    Take care,
    Susie

@ Oh wow, you are graduating in a year then! It’s crazy this might be the last summer school you will be taking! I took summer school every year I attended college! I know it can get hectic considering a semester worth of work is crammed into a few weeks! but oh man.. Gambatte!! you can do it!
    Best of luck with finals!

Btw, are you still a Global…[Read more]

    @ Hi Tim,
Thank you for your understanding and for your honest words. I recently moved from Champaign to Chicago Suburbs and didn’t have internet at home for some time.. I can relate not having internet around, not to mention computers because the one I own is at least 7 years old and occasionally it crashes in the middle of work and it takes 20…[Read more]

    @ Thank you Erin !
I started working full time about 2 months ago and I am still learning about what it means to be a worker XD

I took an anthropology class this past semester on linguistic anthropology and thought it was a great way to learn about racism and identity in linguistic approaches. It’s pretty cool you majored in anthropology 🙂

    @ Cool!
I bet you make great duets with your sister then. 🙂 hehehehe

Teaching overseas, ironically, is very comfortable (at least for me). Especially in international schools since I feel I already know the system, the kids, etc because I went to so many of them myself. :-p

Where are you right now? There are several recruiting fairs around the…[Read more]

    @ No, I dont think I do.
Like I said I taught mostly as a parenthetic teacher, not at the actual school. Most of my students from there came to me for lessons not the other way around.
I will be back in Suzhou this coming Sept. 🙂
    maybe we could meet.

    @ Hey Miyon,

No worries my friend….I completely understand. I too have not been all that active on the TCK website for a variety of reasons – chief of which was the fact that my computer crashed and I haven’t replaced it yet so my internet access has been pretty limited these past several months. This summer has been nothinig short of brutal…[Read more]

@ Hi – thanks for the reply. Yes, I work in Shanghai, teaching high school English in SCIS. I am Mallorca right now though doing masters courses with TCNJ. I just met Takayo Kajino, who is in my class, and she says she was at SSIS for a bit. Do you know her?

  • posted an update 15 years, 3 months ago

    @ Hi Sarah,
Actually i was teaching harp privately so I wasn’t really working for a specific company or school. I was quite connected with the SSIS school in Suzhou though and had several students from there. 🙂
    Are you still in Shanghai?

@ I am sorry about the super late response.

To answer your question, I currently live in Chicago suburbs.
How do you like where you live? Did you find local connections with TCKs?
